The existence of a shared destiny for humanity and, consequently, the creation of greater interconnectedness to address common challenges – which was first considered in the Charter of the United Nations – vividly directs human thought towards globalization in order to achieve common goals such as freedom, justice, and equality. In this regard, the current research examines the possibility and process of the globalization of law. While reviewing wide different viewpoints and theories on globalization, it follows the trend of the globalization of law. The research method hired here, is descriptive-analytical, and the results indicate that the globalization of law, as a specific part of globalization, refers to a process that leads to the harmonization and standardization of specific legal concepts, rules, and institutions at the domestic and international levels. Nowadays, most theorists in this field highly agree that globalization is part of a much longer process of social integration. Among globalization theorists, the theories of Wallerstein, Anthony Giddens, Manuel Castells, David Held and Anthony McGrew, Paul Hirst and Grahame Thompson, and Joseph Stiglitz are the most prominent. Examples of globalization in contemporary international law include erga omnes obligations, humanitarian interventions, and transnational corporations.
